New Year Update
(Just a little late, that's all)
In this update:
The fun just never ceases! I'll fill you in...
-
Silent Counsel closes in on Harper Lee's
To Kill a Mockingbird and John Grisham's The Appeal:
Last month, I reported that Silent Counsel was maintaining a spot among Amazon's top five Hot New Releases in legal
thrillers. Well, with the passage of time, while Silent Counsel may still be hot, it's no long considered new.
But not to worry—The new year has brought some more
good news: I'm proud (and humbled) to tell you that this month Silent Counsel
has been hanging in there on Amazon's list of
Bestselling Legal Thrillers behind only Harper Lee's To Kill a
Mockingbird and John Grisham's soon-to-be released The Appeal.
Now, how's that for good company?

Start the presses!
More, in the Good News Department: Silent Counsel is going
back to press. I just received word that a second printing is
already in the works. That means that demand has overtaken supply,
which sounds good to me.

Nominated for an Arty Award:
I’ve been looking forward to attending the Left Coast Crime
convention in Denver (March 6 – 9), for the opportunity to hook
up with old friends—especially the great group of people I met
in Anchorage at Bouchercon—and to make new ones.
Earlier this month, I found out that I have another reason to anticipate
the event: Silent Counsel has been short-listed for the
Arty Award—an award given for best cover art for a mystery published
in 2007. The winner will be announced at LCC.
As I'll tell anyone who'll listen, the credit for the concept of
Silent Counsel's cover goes to my wife, Sylvia. To read about
how the cover came about, click

New website content:
My website's been updated (a little bit). On January 17, I had the
privilege of appearing on WBTC Talk Radio (Uhrichsville, OH) with
hostess Dr. Andrea Fanti. You can listen to the interview by
clicking
here.

Still more events on the schedule:
I'm still on the move. Upcoming events include a TV appearance on
Fairfax (VA) Cable TV Channel 10, a signing at a neat new pie shop,
Pies By Design, in Cranford, NJ (do NOT think Sweeney Todd), and a
trip out to Denver for Left Coast Crime in March.

The inevitable sales pitch:
C'mon...You knew this was coming—the sales pitch. The holidays may
be over, but there's always a reason to buy a book. There are
birthdays all throughout the year. And anniversaries too. Think Silent Counsel when
deciding on a gift. (Guys: If you go this route for your
anniversary, it would probably be a good idea to include dinner and roses, OK?)
As I told you last time, you can get copies the traditional ways:
Visiting your local bookstore, or ordering online. But if you'd like
a personalized, autographed copy, I've made arrangements with a
great little bookstore not far from where I live, and they're
anxious to help you out.
Give a call to The Bookworm, in Bernardsville, NJ, at (908)
766-4599, place your order, and tell them how you'd like the book
inscribed. They'll contact me, I'll swing by and take care of
business, and they'll ship your purchase off to you.

I'm well aware that you get a lot of...stuff in your
inbox, and I truly do thank you for the opportunity to share these
things with you. It means more to me than you could know.
Best,
Ken
